Affordable Counseling and Therapy
Welcome to a group for connection, skill building and support as we navigate what it is to identifying as LGBTQIA2S+ in 2025.
Our LGBTQIA2S+ support group is a safe and welcoming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, non-binary, and allied/affirming individuals to connect, share their experiences, and find support during unprecedented times in the USA. We understand the unique challenges you face, and our group provides a confidential and non-judgmental environment where you can be yourself and find a place of safety.
Together, we will co-create a space to discuss thoughts, feelings, and other personal impacts. We are offering a variety of topics and activities to support you through developing a supportive community, navigate coping skills, and working through uncomfortable feelings. Whether you’re navigating the impacts of the current political climate, lacking a supportive community, struggling to regulate and calm your nervous system, or looking for a sense of belonging, our group is here for you.
Here are some examples of topics we will cover in this group:
We believe that everyone has the human right to feel loved, accepted, and celebrated for who they are, with the knowledge that there are many people and positions of power invalidating this ultimate truth. Our group is a place where you can find validation, learn or enhance tools and skills that support us on this journey, and a gathering place to witness and be witnessed. Join us and take the first step towards healing, community, and empowerment. Together, we can build communities that hold us and others in radical acceptance and advocacy for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.

Group Facilitators
Lailani (LUH-LAY-KNEE) Bruff she/her is a contract clinician at TheraPride and has been a therapist for 4 years. Her identities as a Queer Neurodivergent person living with invisible/chronic illnesses, and as an Anger Therapist working within an anti-oppression lens has driven her passion for creating this therapeutic group space. Through her clinical specialty and her lived experience, Lailani understands the very real need for community spaces that allow us to process the impact of systemic oppression and the long-term impacts this can have on the body and nervous system. Her hope and intention for this group is to hold the container for participants as they vocalize their nuanced experiences over the course of these last few months, and to offer some “seeds” for each participant to plant and water within themselves both in the group and in their everyday lives.
Caroline (CARE-UH-LINE) Caratini she/her is an intern clinician at TheraPride. She has been practicing for two semesters professionally, and has 25 years of sitting in the clients chair. As an affirming and allied clinician, she strives to offer a safe and judgement free environment where others can find their voice being heard and understood. Through Caroline’s personal and professional journey, she finds that access to group spaces offers individuals a powerful and healing opportunity. Caroline not only encourages others to dig deep within their experiences, but finds a passion in reconnecting the mind, body and spirit. As a certified yoga teacher, Caroline finds that the full body plays a large and powerful role in mental wellness. Caroline wants to offer a group space where participants will find that they are not alone, it is okay to not be okay, and that they will find support and understanding by others within the community. She hopes that participants will begin to take notice of their full body sensations and will allow the permission to take care of themselves during uneasy times, as an act of self-love.
Group facilitators represent both LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies.
If you are a graduate student in a Counseling or Social Work program we would love for you to join us for this virtual survival group.
In this space we will reflect, challenge and support one another through the ups and downs of clinical training, without the formal structure of supervision. That kind of peer support can be so valuable, especially when things get tough or overwhelming.
This is a group focused on the person of the counselor (student). We will work collectively and independently to grow and build your counselor identity. Identify and try tools to help prevent burn out. Get support from other students like you. This is also a great chance to build your professional network. Clinical Foundations can be a tough area to navigate, so building a support network early on is a smart move!

Lisa Kjeseth is the Director of Special Programs for TheraPride and a therapist of more than 15 years. Her expertise in Burn Out Resiliency and Secondary Trauma are a passion stemming from her own experience early in her career where she was faced with “how can I do this work in a healthy sustainable way?” or “I must leave the field I love.” Lisa decided to stay in the field and research and learn all she could about secondary trauma and burn out. She embeds this passion as she runs our internship program. She also uses what she has learned to work with those that experience what she calls occupational trauma; those that are called to a field where they are more exposed to trauma than other fields (healthcare, military, first responders, LEOs etc).
