LGBTQIA2S+ Support Group:
A Safe and Welcoming Space for You
Welcome to a group for connection, skill building, and support as we navigate what it is to identify as LGBTQIA2S+ in 2025.
Our LGBTQIA2S+ support group is a safe and welcoming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, non-binary, and allied/affirming individuals to connect, share their experiences, and find support during unprecedented times in the USA. We understand the unique challenges you face, and our group provides a confidential and nonjudgmental environment where you can be yourself and find a place of safety.
Together, we will co-create a space to discuss thoughts, feelings, and other personal impacts. We are offering a variety of topics and activities to support you in developing a supportive community, navigating coping skills, and working through uncomfortable feelings. Whether you’re navigating the impacts of the current political climate, lacking a supportive community, struggling to regulate and calm your nervous system, or looking for a sense of belonging, our group is here for you.
Here are some examples of topics we will cover in this group:
- DBT skills on emotion identification and awareness
- ACT skills supporting emotional regulation
- What role anger is playing in your life right now
- Loving-kindness anger practices
- Coping in the midst of political, cultural and social turmoil
- Somatic awareness and regulation
We believe that everyone has the human right to feel loved, accepted, and celebrated for who they are, despite the reality that there are many people and positions of power invalidating this ultimate truth. Our group is a place where you can find validation, learn or enhance tools and skills that support you on this journey, and a gathering place to witness and be witnessed. Join us and take the first step toward healing, community, and empowerment. Together, we can build communities that hold us and others in radical acceptance and advocacy for LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.
Duration: 4 weeks

Group Facilitators
Lailani (LUH-LAY-KNEE) Bruff (she/her) is a contract clinician at TheraPride and has been a therapist for 4 years. Her identities as a Queer Neurodivergent person living with invisible/chronic illnesses, and as an Anger Therapist working within an anti-oppression lens has driven her passion for creating this therapeutic group space. Through her clinical specialty and her lived experience, Lailani understands the very real need for community spaces that allow us to process the impact of systemic oppression and the long-term impacts this can have on the body and nervous system. Her hope and intention for this group is to hold the container for participants as they vocalize their nuanced experiences over the course of these last few months, and to offer some “seeds” for each participant to plant and water within themselves both in the group and in their everyday lives.
Abbey Steffey (she/her) is a therapist at TheraPride committed to holding compassionate, person-centered space that honors the mind, body, and spirit. As an ally and mental health professional, Abbey is deeply invested in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, ADHD, and life transitions—especially in the context of systemic and structural challenges. Grounded in a lens of curiosity and anti-oppression, she brings warmth and presence to her work with individuals impacted by marginalization, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm. Abbey approaches therapy as both a healing practice and a form of resistance, helping clients build clarity, cultivate resilience, and reconnect with their values. Her hope for this group is to stand in solidarity with participants as they process their lived experiences, and to offer supportive tools and reflections that can be carried into their lives beyond the therapeutic space.
Group facilitators represent both LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies.
