How much does therapy cost?It depends. If you use insurance it could vary based on your plan. You may have to pay coinsurance or a copay. Call your insurance provider for details. If you pay out of pocket it varies on the expertise of the therapist you are wishing to see. That breakdown can be seen here. If cost is a prohibitive factor please take a look at our FACT program.

How long does therapy take? The effectiveness and duration of therapy can vary widely depending on several factors, including the specific issues being addressed, the individual's unique circumstances, and the therapeutic approach used. Some people may experience significant relief after just a few sessions, while others may find that deeper, more complex issues require a longer commitment. It's important for clients to have open conversations with their therapists about their progress and goals to tailor the experience to their needs.

Why would I speak to a therapist and not a friend? While talking to a friend can be comforting and supportive, therapy offers a more structured approach to understanding and managing emotions. Therapists are trained to identify patterns, provide coping strategies, and create a safe space for deeper exploration. This tailored guidance can lead to more sustainable change and personal growth over time. It's all about equipping individuals with the skills they need to navigate their challenges effectively.

What is the difference between a therapist, psychologist and psychiatrist?Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health. They have completed medical school and residency training in psychiatry, which equips them to diagnose and treat mental illnesses. Psychiatrists can prescribe medications and often integrate medical and psychological approaches to treatment, considering the complex interplay between emotional and physical health. Psychologists, on the other hand, typically hold a doctoral degree in psychology and focus on understanding human behavior and mental processes. They are trained in various therapeutic techniques and often conduct psychological testing and assessments. While psychologists can provide therapy, they generally do not prescribe medications unless they have received additional training and licensure in certain jurisdictions. Therapists is a broader term that encompasses various mental health professionals, including psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPC), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), and others who provide counseling services. Therapists focus on helping individuals, couples, and families address emotional and psychological challenges through talk therapy and other therapeutic modalities.
